Some Nuggets from the Edinburgh Jazz&Blues Festival

- scotland dancing

I am volunteering at the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival again this year, and two days in there are already a handful of nuggets to report:

  • I sold CDs for a band and was given one for free.
  • I know a lot of the other volunteers from last year, but hadn’t seen them all year. Nice reunions.
  • Two days in, and I have already been to five gigs and the Mardi Gras outdoor party with four stages.
  • When handing out programmes I ran into a friend from dancing and we spontaneously danced a bit to the band in the background and drew almost as much attention as the band.
  • Together with three other volunteers, we held umbrellas over the members of a band who were playing outside in the rain. Of all the musicians I got the tallest one with the double bass. Holding up a brolly for half an hour is tiring.
  • I met more dancers and danced in the rain.
  • I was very strict with one band and told them they only had two more minutes, so they improvised a two-minute-blues about me :)
